Alexander I (1777-1825), Emperor of Russia, in dark green uniform with embroidered red
collar and gold epaulettes, the blue sash and breast star of the Imperial Russian orders
of St. Andrew and St. George. Alexander was reared by his Grandmother,
Catherine the Great. In 1793 he married Elizabeth Alexievna (Louise of Baden). He became
Emperor in 1801, and participated in the "London Summer," where he waltzed with
Countess Lieven at Almack's, and the Congress of Vienna in 1814-15.
